As summer comes to a close, a lot sooner then I had expected, I am realizing all the things I had planned on doing this summer, and have not yet got around to. Aside from the many road trips and adventures I had planned, I also had a big stack of books that I wanted to read this summer. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is sit next to some form of water may it be an ocean, lake or pool, and just read for hours. In May after finishing up with finals and classes, the only thing I wanted to do was sit around and read books of my choice, not ones pertaining to accounting, or economics, or anything else my professor may have picked out. I went out and bought a few books, and recently I realized I had only read about two of them all summer. This really bothered me because I know if I do not read these books before August 30th, I wont have time again until next summer to do some leisurely reading. I looked at my list of books and I made a few changes, but I thought I would share my top 5 books I plan on reading before the end of summer, so maybe some of you can escape into a relaxing book as well for your last weeks of summer.
The book I just started reading, and am in a little bit of a time crunch with is Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. For those of you that don't know Eat Pray Love, has been made into a summer blockbuster, starring Julia Roberts, and it happens to come to theaters August 13th. Knowing I cannot see the movie before finishing the book, it has helped me to dive right into the book and attempt to finish it before well...Friday. The book has made the rankings of a New York Times best seller, and I can understand why. Since picking up the book a few days ago I have not been able to put it down. The book is about a young woman who after going through some difficult times, decides to go on an adventure to find herself. If your looking for a good beach book definitely try this one out, but do it fast the movie comes out this week!
My next book that I would like to read is Charlie St. Cloud. I know what your thinking, this girl just reads all the books that were turned into movies, that may be the case but it was not on purpose. I wanted to read this book for quite sometime, and then upon finding out that it would be a movie starring Zach Efron, I just got more determined to make sure this was a book I checked off my list this summer. If you don't have time to check out these two books, at least you can go see the movies!
I am going to talk about the next three books at once because they are a series that I have been dying to read. The first book of the series is called The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This book I have yet to hear anything bad about and know once I start reading it I wont be able to stop until I read all three of the series. The book is a bit of a thriller that claims to keep you at the edge of your seat until the very end. Having not read it yet I cannot acclaim to that but its not a national best seller for nothing right? The next two books in the series The Girl Who Played With Fire, and the Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, are also apart of my summer reading to do list. I am wary to start these books though because I may have waited to far into summer, and with only three weeks left I do not know if I can complete the task before heading back to good old College Park!
Check out the links to find out more about the books I want to read, and maybe add them to your own end of summer reading list. If you have a good suggestion for a book that I shouldn't miss out on this summer let me know with a comment! I am always looking for good books to read...I just wish I had more free time to do it!
