When one of our staff members from the Towson store said she was interested in blogging for us...I couldn't say no! Check out the debut post from our little lovie CC from South Moon Under Towson!
Reminiscing back to the days when I was a youngen, I was always a little heavier than my friends. Considering I didn’t hit puberty until the age of 17 (brutal I know!) I struggled at times with how things fit. One time in particular, I recall at the age of 13, I was shopping with my two friends Lindsey and Britney and Lindsey’s mother Stephanie. We were at a trendy shop called Bala Girls in Philadelphia. This was the time of Bat and Bar mitzvahs so we were dress shopping but I came across a pair of pants I just had to have. I know I’m in a dress shop and I find pants, go figure. Anyways, I tried the pants on and came out of the fitting room and asked Stephanie how they fit. In the nicest way she simply said “sweetie, those are great pants but they are just a little snug, maybe you should try the next size up”. As a 13 year old girl who’s friends were transforming into beautiful teens and you’re stuck in a 10 year olds body, the last thing anyone would want to here is try on the next size. Stephanie continued to say “don’t get upset sweetie, everybody has a tooshie!” which automatically made me smile. I ended up buying the pants in the next size up because I did love them.

Looking back now I always laugh because yes, I definitively had a tooshie, in fact, I still do, but the moral of the story is size doesn’t really matter, clothing is always cut differently depending on the brand and a size is just a size, in the end what matters is how you feel when you put that dress, shirt, or pair of pants on.
I currently work at South Moon Under in Towson and one aspect of my job that I love more than anything, is the opportunity to help women find the right clothing for them and their specific body. Shopping for clothing, especially bathing suits can be stressful for women because they might not be happy about the way they look. I see tons of women come into the store; try on a pile of clothing and not like one thing. The issue there is they are not shopping right for their body. Any women can look stunning, sexy, and beautiful if they know what works well for them and what doesn’t. When women don’t know, that’s where the South Moon Under staff and I come in. A petite woman trying on only Joe Jeans, should instead try on some J-brands or DL1961 jeans.
No two women are built the same and it’s silly to be discouraged by sizes or giving up without asking It is easy to be discouraged from shopping, and when something doesn’t fit the way you might think it will it, can be disappointing. But my advice to you is to embrace what your mama gave you and work it because you are beautiful! Do not let a size discourage you, like age, it's just a number, it's all about how you feel and lastly, always feel free to ask for advice or help, here at South Moon Under, think of us as your personal stylist. Everybody has a tooshie; it is up to you to make that tooshie look fabulous!
