'Tis the Season for Celebration

As my mailbox continues to overflow with grad party invitations, designed with pictures of people I don’t even recognize anymore, I begin to think to myself where has time gone? Memories sparked of all the years that have flown by with the friends I will never forget; I suddenly realize these friends, which I haven’t seen in years, months, or since the last block party, I will be seeing the next couple of weekends...party, after party, after party (and I know I am not the only one). This means two things 1) go to CVS asap and stock up on graduation cards for the 2011 graduates and prepare to hand out the dough (or check out our gift guide here!) 2) go shopping!! The thing about these parties is that you are probably going to see old high school friends, ex boyfriends, your boyfriends’ ex girlfriend, I could definitely go on, but we all know things can potentially get pretty complicated. Bottom line is that it’s a definite MUST to look your best for these parties! Having attended a few graduation parties this summer already, I have had the pleasure of noting a couple fashion Dos and Don’ts for the 2011 graduation season…Let the festivities begin!

    1) DO a romper! I know it takes some time to get comfortable trying new things but once you find a good romper you are set for the summer! Go with print and pair with a nude heel or go simple with a bold color and dress it up with fun accessories; either way rockin’ a romper is a definite DO this graduation season!

    2) DO prints! Prints are totally in this season; they’re fun and they give people the impression that you’re care-free and confident. Doing prints doesn’t require you to draw all the attention. So if you do rock a print, make it either the bottom piece or top garment and pair with a neutral color; DON’T pair two bold prints together.

    3) DO wedges! Keep in mind, most graduation parties are a family atmosphere and during the day, which is not the time to rock out the stilettos and pumps. Rep a classy nude wedge or go floral. DON’T draw negative attention by appearing to be trying too hard rockin’ your most flashy heels…Remember effortless beauty is always in!

    4) DO sundresses! Short shorts may be in, but stick with the maxi when it comes to dresses this season. Less isn’t always more. DON’T go too short.

    5) DO feathers! Just because feathers are in doesn’t mean go bird crazy! DON’T let the feather fix take over your wardrobe; a few accent accessories (earrings or necklaces) are perfect to compliment any fun outfit.

    6) DO Go nude! No, not literally…but nude heels are totally in and the perfect way to tone down any festive prints this season! Pair nude heels with a bright colored dress or a printed romper and you are sure to draw some positive attention at every party!

I hope these tips help you dress to impress this graduation season!
