Are DIY projects only acceptable when done perfectly? Well, I am showing you a failed one that could actually be successful (if I'm not involved.. haha). I first saw this done by I Spy DIY here and immediately wanted to try it out. It was inspired by Kanye's ombre shirt he wore to the VMA's. Check out our previous post here to see how he wore it.
Supplies: Denim shirt, navy blue Rit dye, royal blue Rit dye, gloves, bucket (if not using sink)
Step 1: Follow directions for royal blue dye and soak for about 10 minutes halfway up the shirt. Rinse.
Step 2: Follow directions for navy blue dye and soak for 10 minutes halfway up the already dyed part. Rinse.

As you can see, my shirt did not turn out so well, ugh. This could be for several reasons. My denim shirt I already had (since I was too lazy to go and buy a new one) was super light and the darker blue dyes did not blend in the way it should. Also, I couldn't find the Brilliant Blue iDye that Jenni used on I Spy DIY. Oh well, this gives me more reason to try it with a darker shirt.. right? Hopefully you won't make my mistakes and create a perfect ombray denim shirt. If you decide to DIY this shirt, make sure to let me know so I can be totally jealous!
xoxo Melissa
