NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Melissa Burriss of zestes de mode is currently a senior at Marymount University, majoring in fashion merchandising. As a lover of anything Parisian, Melissa spent time living in Paris and also traveling Europe. Her daily activities include contributing to her personal blog, tweeting, and enjoying a great cup of coffee. Melissa has fallen in love with the free spirited style of South Moon Under’s merchandise and lusts after it on daily basis. She wants to share her love for fashion with SMU readers, hoping to inspire them along the way.

I had the awesome opportunity to enjoy the high energy of the Lincoln Center at New York Fashion Week this past weekend. Wishing that school didn't demand my time and that I could have spent the entire week in the city! Even though it was only two days, I was still able to get a glimpse of what takes place during the madness of Fashion Week. On the streets, I believe, is where fashion truly is. You see so many different styles, all of which are true to the person wearing them. By all of the press and photographers outside, street style seemed to be a lot more important than what was actually going on inside the tents. Here are the shots I was able to capture. Enjoy! Oh, and I was SO stoked to see Bill Cunningham!

It was an experience I will never forget.

    xoxo Melissa

The amazing and talented, Bill Cunningham.

P.S.. Look who I spotted on the streets after a Topshop event in Soho. Bonnie Barton of Flashes of Style, Dylana Saurez of Color Me Nana, Natalie Saurez of Natalie Off Duty, and Claire Geist of De Lune. Follow these lovely ladies for tons of inspiration!
